Nursing & Pharmacy Student Scholarship

Eligibility

  • The recipient must be a college student who is enrolled in a nursing or pharmacy program
  • The recipient must have a minimum grade point average of 3.2
  • The recipient must be at least 17 years old

FNSNA Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled and matriculated in a state-approved nursing program leading to an Associates, Bachelors, Master’s Degree, RN to BSN, RN to MSN, or LPN/LVN to RN program.
  • Pre-nursing students taking courses to prepare for matriculation into a nursing program.
  • Attending classes and taking no less than 6 credits per semester.
  • Involvement in student nursing organizations and/or community health activities,
  • Documented academic achievement.
  • Established Financial Need
  • U.S. Citizen or Alien with U.S. Permanent Resident Status/Alien Registration Number
  • HS Students ARE NOT eligible to apply
  • Funds are not available for graduate study unless it is for a first degree in nursing.

Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Participating in a Master’s or Doctoral nursing program offered at AACN member schools affiliated with NursingCAS.
  • Illustrate high academic achievement
  • List past experiences that show a commitment to academic nursing.
  • Be in good standing with their school of nursing.
  • Be a member of AACN’s Graduate Nursing Student Academy (membership is free).

Application

Students will submit the following:

  • A scholarship application, including biographical information and contact information for a faculty advisor
  • A concise essay (no more than 500 words) outlining career achievements, desire to aspire to a future leadership position in academia, and your vision for academic nursing
  • A CV or resume that includes key milestones related to your leadership and career development (i.e. conference attendance, poster presentations, publications, etc.)
  • Goals (3-4 bullets) for what you hope to achieve during the leadership development experience with Dr. Trautman
  • Two letters of recommendation, including one from the nursing school dean or director
  • A signed commitment statement agreeing to complete the 3-day leadership development component of this program. Failure to complete this requirement will forfeit your scholarship funding.

J.J. Bogdan Healthcare Professional Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Students must:
    • Be a U.S. Citizen
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Have a Cumulative GPA of at Least 3.5
    • Be enrolled in one of the following through at least the Spring 2023 term:
      • Medical or Pre-Med Programs
      • Pharmacy or Pre-Pharmacy Programs
      • Nursing or Nurse Practitioner Programs
      • Physicians Assistant Programs

The Robbie Paul, PhD, Scholarship for Native American Students

Eligibility:

  • Must be a Native American student who can provide documentation of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe, member of a state recognized tribe in WA,OR, ID, or MT, or descendancy of a federally or state recognized tribe in WA, OR, ID, or MT.
  • Must be an undergraduate, graduate, or professional students enrolled in the health sciences including Pharmacy, Pre-Pharmacy, Medicine, all Pre-Med disciplines (e.g. biochemistry, neuroscience), and/or Nursing. Students may be enrolled at any of the WSU campuses.
  • Priority may be given to students from tribes who have signed the MOU for creation of the WSU Native America Advisory Board to the President.
    • Nez Perce Tribe, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, Coeur d’Alene Tribe, Yakama Indian Nation, Colville Confederated Tribes, Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, Kootenai Tribe of Indians, Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Spokane Tribe of Indians, Quinault Indian Nation, and any Tribes that join this MOU in the future.
  • Priority may be given to students from tribes who are founding partners for this scholarship:
    • Chehalis Confederated Tribes, Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Mohegan Tribe, Swinomish Tribe, and Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.
  • When needed, the pool of applicants may be refined by prioritizing students with the highest level of unmet financial need.
  • When needed, the pool of applicants may be further refined by giving first priority to a member of the Nez Perce Tribe.

    • One recommendation letter that speaks to the applicant’s leadership skills, community involvement, and commitment to health equity. The letter may come from a faculty or staff member or supervisor.
    • Documentation of enrollment in a federally recognized tribe, member of a state recognized tribe in WA, OR, ID, or MT, or descendancy of a federally recognized or state recognized tribe in WA, OR, ID, or MT
    • It is recommended that you provide a list of campus and community volunteer activities. Please note if you held a leadership role.
  • To be considered for the scholarship, applicants need to submit written responses to three questions.
    • Please describe what influenced your decision to pursue a career as a health professional.
    • How do you intend to serve American Indian/Alaska Native communities in your chosen health profession?
    • Briefly explain your thoughts about health equity and your commitment to health equity as a student and as a professional?

Laborde Earles Law Firm Cancer Scholarship

Eligibility

  • The Cancer Scholarship is open to all college applicants planning to study medicine, public health, toxicology, or another related field. Eligibility guidelines include:
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Being admitted to or currently attending a college or university

How to Apply:

  • Applicants are to write a policy brief to their Congressperson or local politician detailing the gaps in the current policy and why increased regulations will be good for public health.
  • The length for the submission is 1,000 words. Applicants must submit their essays in PDF format along with their application.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship- Baccalaureate Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • RESIDENCY
    • Be a Washington state resident as defined by state Legislature (RCW 28B.15.012).
    • Earn a high school diploma or GED from a Washington state institution by June of the year of application.
  • FINANCIAL NEED
  • ACADEMIC RECORD
    • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) as of application date of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrated on either a current college or high school transcript; OR
    • A passing GED score, demonstrated on an official score report.
  • ENROLLMENT PLAN
    • Plan to pursue an eligible science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care major as defined on the eligible majors list.
    • Plan to enroll at an eligible Washington state institution for the fall term following selection as defined on the list of eligible college and universities.
    • Plan to enroll at least half-time (six or more credits) every term. Scholars are not expected to enroll in nor does WSOS fund summer term.
  • PREVIOUS EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
    • Do not yet have a bachelor’s degree.
    • Applicant must currently be a:
      • High school senior or graduate (high school equivalency)
      • College freshman or college sophomore. If the applicant has completed any college terms or college credits post high-school, they must meet either the maximum term OR maximum credit requirement stated below:
        1. Maximum Terms Completed: The applicant must have completed no more than six quarters or four semesters of college at the end of the current academic year; OR
        2. Maximum Credits Earned: The applicant must have earned no more than 90 quarter or 60 semester credits at the end of the current academic year

Application Process

Interested applicants must complete the entire application process. Applicants must:

  1. Complete all application sections via the Scholarship Application Portal and click “Submit” by the application deadline.
  2. Mail a copy of your transcript or GED scores to WSOS c/o Baccalaureate Scholarship at this address: 1414 31st Ave S., Suite 302, Seattle, WA 98144.
  3. Submit the FAFSA or WASFA for the relevant academic year by the deadline on the application timeline.

The application will require approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Applicants may start the application, save progress and return to complete it later up until the application deadline. Applicants should know what college they expect to attend and what major they intend to complete before beginning their application.

Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship

Who is eligible for a Student Scholarship?

Applicants to the Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship must:

  • Be United States citizens or legal residents living or claiming residency in one of the 50 united states, Washington, D.C. or Puerto Rico.

  • Be current high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate students who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2020-2021 academic year.

  • Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, and participation and leadership in school activities and work experience.

  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career and enrolled in the following majors: Athletic Training, Psychology, Biology, Kinesiology, Nursing, General Medicine, Dentistry, Behavioral Sciences, Personal Training, Physical Education Teaching and Coaching, Health and Physical Fitness, Exercise Science, Sports and Recreation Management, Health Sciences, Physical Therapist, or another health- related major.

When is the program open period?

  • Only the first 1,000 scholarship applications will be considered. If the program reaches 1,000 scholarship applications before the deadline date of August 1st, 2023, then the program will automatically close. Your scholarship application MUST be one of the first 1,000 submitted electronically.

How do I apply?

To begin, click on the Apply for a Scholarship link at the bottom of the scholarship providers website.

Within that Application you will need to write essays addressing the following questions

    • Describe your outstanding achievement in school. Maximum 500 words.
    • Describe your participation and leadership in school activities, the community, and work experiences. Maximum 1000 words
    • Pretend that you were recently hired by the government to develop new public policy to end diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. What factors contribute to these health problems? What specific steps will you take to overcome them? What obstacles do you foresee while trying to institute the new policy? Maximum 1500 words.

 

 

Army Nurse Corps Association Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Students currently enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate or advanced degree nursing or nurse anesthesia program who:
    • Are serving or have previously served in any branch, at any rank, of a component of the US Army (Active Army, Army National Guard, or Army Reserve);
    • Are not currently receiving funding by a component of the US Army (e.g., ROTC scholarship students and students receiving full GI Bill benefits are not eligible); and
    • As applicable, have received an Honorable Discharge.
  • Nursing or anesthesia students whose parent(s), spouse, or child(ren) have current or previous service in a component of the US Army.
  • Elligible Programs:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
    • RN to BSN
    • Accelerated Nursing Degree programs
    • Graduate Certificate in Nursing (minimum of one year (2 semesters) in length)
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
    • Anesthesia and Nursing Doctoral programs
    • Graduate degree in related healthcare fields (such as Public Health) in furtherance of a nursing career

Betty K. Adams MD Endowed Health Sciences Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate sophomore; junior or senior considered if no sophomore applications
  • Minimum GPA 3.5
  • Preference given to
  • Major in Pre-Medicine, Pre-Dental, Nursing or Pharmacy
  • Demonstrated high financial need
  • Washington state students
  • Students who’s intent is to serve undeserved populations
