Laborde Earles Law Firm Cancer Scholarship

Eligibility

  • The Cancer Scholarship is open to all college applicants planning to study medicine, public health, toxicology, or another related field. Eligibility guidelines include:
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0
    • Being admitted to or currently attending a college or university

How to Apply:

  • Applicants are to write a policy brief to their Congressperson or local politician detailing the gaps in the current policy and why increased regulations will be good for public health.
  • The length for the submission is 1,000 words. Applicants must submit their essays in PDF format along with their application.

ISPA Foundation Mary Tabacchi Scholarship

Eligibility:

The Desired Candidate shall be the following:

  • Will be a junior, senior or grad student in the upcoming school year, enrolled full-time in a bachelor’s or master’s program of a related discipline, i.e. business, health science, hospitality or spa management, and pursuing a spa management/spa leadership/spa entrepreneurial-related career. Please note, students applying for this scholarship must be enrolled in classes for the fall 2020 semester to be eligible.
  • Has completed or is enrolled in courses with a strong emphasis in business, management, analytics and/or entrepreneurship.
  • Has a minimum GPA (or international equivalent) of 3.0.
  • Has completed/is currently completing a spa-related internship/externship or has conducted/currently conducting a project, paper, research initiative, etc. that has a demonstrated focus on the spa industry and can provide details of the skills and experiences gained during said internship/externship or project/paper/research initiative in his/her resume.
  • Is involved in on/off-campus organizations and demonstrates leadership roles held in such organizations.
  • Agrees to be a mentor to the 2021 Mary Tabacchi scholarship recipient.
  • Submits the following required materials:
    a.    A completed scholarship application including detailed responses to Section 3 Essay Questions;
    b.    Original college transcripts that include evidence of courses taken and current GPA (or international equivalent);
    c.    Two reference letters;
    d.    A professional resume.

 

The 2020 ISPA Foundation Mary Tabacchi Scholarship Recipient Receives:

  • A $5,000 scholarship for tuition reimbursement.
  • Complimentary registration and travel expense stipend for the 2020 ISPA Conference & Expo in National Harbor, Maryland, October 14-16.
  • A one-year mentor from the ISPA Foundation Mary Tabacchi Scholarship Selection Committee.
  • A complimentary, one-year ISPA Student Membership.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship- Baccalaureate Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • RESIDENCY
    • Be a Washington state resident as defined by state Legislature (RCW 28B.15.012).
    • Earn a high school diploma or GED from a Washington state institution by June of the year of application.
  • FINANCIAL NEED
  • ACADEMIC RECORD
    • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) as of application date of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrated on either a current college or high school transcript; OR
    • A passing GED score, demonstrated on an official score report.
  • ENROLLMENT PLAN
    • Plan to pursue an eligible science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care major as defined on the eligible majors list.
    • Plan to enroll at an eligible Washington state institution for the fall term following selection as defined on the list of eligible college and universities.
    • Plan to enroll at least half-time (six or more credits) every term. Scholars are not expected to enroll in nor does WSOS fund summer term.
  • PREVIOUS EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
    • Do not yet have a bachelor’s degree.
    • Applicant must currently be a:
      • High school senior or graduate (high school equivalency)
      • College freshman or college sophomore. If the applicant has completed any college terms or college credits post high-school, they must meet either the maximum term OR maximum credit requirement stated below:
        1. Maximum Terms Completed: The applicant must have completed no more than six quarters or four semesters of college at the end of the current academic year; OR
        2. Maximum Credits Earned: The applicant must have earned no more than 90 quarter or 60 semester credits at the end of the current academic year

Application Process

Interested applicants must complete the entire application process. Applicants must:

  1. Complete all application sections via the Scholarship Application Portal and click “Submit” by the application deadline.
  2. Mail a copy of your transcript or GED scores to WSOS c/o Baccalaureate Scholarship at this address: 1414 31st Ave S., Suite 302, Seattle, WA 98144.
  3. Submit the FAFSA or WASFA for the relevant academic year by the deadline on the application timeline.

The application will require approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Applicants may start the application, save progress and return to complete it later up until the application deadline. Applicants should know what college they expect to attend and what major they intend to complete before beginning their application.

2020 Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship

Who is eligible for a Student Scholarship?

Applicants to the Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship must:

  • Be United States citizens or legal residents living or claiming residency in one of the 50 united states, Washington, D.C. or Puerto Rico.

  • Be current high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate students who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire 2020-2021 academic year.

  • Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, and participation and leadership in school activities and work experience.

  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career and enrolled in the following majors: Athletic Training, Psychology, Biology, Kinesiology, Nursing, General Medicine, Dentistry, Behavioral Sciences, Personal Training, Physical Education Teaching and Coaching, Health and Physical Fitness, Exercise Science, Sports and Recreation Management, Health Sciences, Physical Therapist, or another health- related major.

When is the program open period?

  • Only the first 1,000 scholarship applications will be considered. If the program reaches 1,000 scholarship applications before the deadline date of August 1st, 2020, then the program will automatically close. Your scholarship application MUST be one of the first 1,000 submitted electronically.

How do I apply?

To begin, click on the Apply for a Scholarship link at the bottom of the scholarship providers website.

Within that Application you will need to write essays addressing the following questions

    • Describe your outstanding achievement in school. Maximum 500 words.
    • Describe your participation and leadership in school activities, the community, and work experiences. Maximum 1000 words
    • Pretend that you were recently hired by the government to develop new public policy to end diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. What factors contribute to these health problems? What specific steps will you take to overcome them? What obstacles do you foresee while trying to institute the new policy? Maximum 1500 words.

 

 

Laser Spine Institute Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Prove full-time enrollment during the spring and/or summer semester with a school transcript no older than January 1.
  • Intend to continue a full-time enrollment status in the fall semester. Proof of enrollment or acceptance to new school must be provided.
  • Currently have a minimum 3.5 GPA at a university or college.
  • Be seeking a degree in a health- or science-based program, with an interest in pursuing a career in health care.
  • Have an active .edu email address for the university or college they attend.

  • Submit a 750- to 1,000-word essay on the assigned topic:
    • What do you feel are the three most critical issues facing the health care industry today and what ideas would you put into place to help address them?

WR Public Health Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be a part-time or full-time student (first year or current),
  • Must be majoring in public health, health sciences, dietetics, nutrition, nutrition education, psychology, or physical education at a college or university based in the United States, Canada, or the United Kingdom

All applications must be submitted by December 31, 2017. Winner will be announced January 31, 2018.

  • Submit a minimum 2-page essay on “What Are the Biggest Challenges Facing Public Health in the Coming Years?” and answer at least one of the following questions:
    • How can you personally help people facing these challenges?
    • How does your area of study help solve the issues you mentioned?
