ExtremeTerrain’s Student Scholarships

Eligibility

  • Students who are pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Research, Land Use, Earth & Atmosphere Studies, Sustainable Land Management, Parks and Recreation, Sustainable Agriculture Systems.
  • Previous winners who are still eligible may submit a new essay that follows the same criteria.
  • Limit one essay per student each semester

All applications must be submitted by:

  • October 15th (for Spring Semester)
  • June 15th (for Fall Semester)

How to Apply

  • Proof of enrollment is required along with submission.
  • Students should submit a 700 – 1500 word essay that describes who you are, why you feel it is important to maintain access to public lands for recreational use and how you plan to use your degree to advocate for the recreational use of public lands
  • Essays should be submitted as a PDF or Microsoft Word document to scholarships@extremeterrain.com

Requirements

  • Applicants must be currently attending a college or university during the Fall 2022 academic year. Winner will be asked to provide a valid student ID, transcript, or other proof of enrollment before receiving his/her winning.
  • This scholarship is not open to graduate students or high school students entering college.
  • Only third-year and fourth-year students can apply for this scholarship
  • Must have a GPA of at least 3.2 at the time of submission.
  • Must apply to the scholarship via the link provided. You must provide your name, university email, target graduation year, and the name of your academic institution.
  • Must submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words
  • One submission per person, per year.

  • Write an essay about how you can save money in your daily life. Focus on saving tips. If your ideas are unique and helpful, you will get higher chances to win this scholarship.

Phi Kappa Phi Fellowships

Eligibility

  • You must be an active member of Phi Kappa Phi or have accepted membership by June 30 of the year in which you are applying.
  • You must also have applied to enroll as a full-time student in a graduate/professional school program to begin May 1, 2023 and February 1, 2024.
  • You have not/will not have completed more than 9 hours of semester credits of graduate study in any field at application deadline.
  • Not be a sitting Phi Kappa Phi board member, divisional vice president, member of the Fellowship Award committee or Society employee at the time of application or announcement.

  • Academic achievement, including transcripts, honors and awards, relevant research experience, standardized test scores, and samples of creative work
  • Service and leadership experience, on and off campus
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement and career goals
