JVS Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be Jewish
  • Minimum age 16
  • Permanent and legal resident of Los Angeles County for a minimum of three years
  • U.S. citizen or documented legal permanent U.S. resident with a Green Card
  • Planning to attend an accredited public or private college, university or vocational school in the U.S.
  • Planning to enroll as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 units per term
  • Minimum 2.7 GPA (per term) for Undergraduate Students
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (per term) for Graduate Students
  • Demonstrated and verifiable financial need including FAFSA (Student aid report)

Completed application and all supplemental materials, including official transcript and letter of recommendation, must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2020. A complete list of required supplemental materials is available online. Any supplemental materials postmarked after March 31, 2020 will NOT be considered.

The Kristina Flores Overcoming All Odds Scholarship

Who can apply?

  • High school students.
  • Freshman & Sophomores in college.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Displays how they overcame significant obstacles to complete/continue school.
  • School transcripts.

How to apply:

Scholarship applicants can either email or mail in their application. Please include all of the following with your application:

  • 1000 word essay on how you overcame a significant adversity to complete/continue school
  • Two letters commenting on how you overcame significant adversity to complete/continue school

MyProjectorLamps Annual Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Minimum age of 14 years or older.
  • Currently attending an accredited U.S. program: i.e. high schools, college, or university.
  • Considered in “Good Standing” at current institution: i.e. not on academic probation or suspension.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must follow or “Like” the MyProjectorLamps Facebook page.

How to Apply

  • Submit your application package:
    • Create a one page essay detailing your ideas about the use of multimedia and data visualization in K-12 classrooms. Explore modern teaching methods and propose specific ideas for visual and interactive presentation in K-12 classrooms for improved knowledge retention. Include one printed image of the multimedia used in your classroom.
    • A cover letter including: first and last name, school name, grade, email address, and phone number.
    • A transcript or statement of your GPA from your school.

Ramsey Solutions $20,000 Financial Literacy Challenge

Eligibility

  • If you are a high school senior, you could win a $10,000 scholarship.
  • If you are a freshman, sophomore, or junior, you could win one of two $500 Amazon gift cards.
  • The school of each winner will receive a one-year subscription to Foundations in Personal Finance and Foundations in Entrepreneurship high school curricula.

Eligibility

  • Open to high school juniors and seniors, and students currently enrolled in 2-year or 4-year colleges or universities in the U.S.

  • To enter, students should write a 600+ word essay on the following topic:
    • Technology advancements in motor vehicles serve the overall purpose of decreasing distractions on the road, but they often increase distractions and cause more accidents for drivers. What changes can be made to decrease distractions with technology in motor vehicles?
  • Complete the online application.

The Filix Gardening Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Students currently enrolled in a high school, college or university.
  • No previous expertise in the domain of gardening is required.

  • Write  an essay of 1,500- to 2,000-words about how people living in the urban area can adopt the sustainable lifestyle. In other words, what are the ways or steps people can take in order to reduce carbon footprint and their use of Earth’s natural resources?

    • You can submit up to two essays

Eligibility

  • High school student
  • Cannot be a previous winner

All applications must be submitted by May 15, 2018. Winner will be announced on May 18, 2018.

  • Submit a 1,000 word essay on “Preserving Aquatic Ecosystems.”
    • Give us a background on the current state of freshwater and marine life, and discuss what people can do to maintain or improve the current condition of aquatic ecosystems.
  • Submit an admission slip/enrollment confirmation
  • Submit a biography (100 words)
  • Submit basic personal information (include home/school address and contact number)
