What intentional choices do you make to live sustainably in your daily life?
Why do you think it’s important to reduce your carbon footprint?
You have a demonstrated record of community or volunteer service.
You are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited U.S. college or university for the 2023 academic year.
High school graduates may apply if you are enrolled in college for the semester immediately following the application deadline.

Essay Prompt
Describe a challenge or trying time in your life through which you persevered, and how the experience helped shape your future.
• For students who have keen interest in any facet of harness racing and can show financial need.
• Applicant may or may not be pursuing a career in the harness racing industry. Applicant must be at least a high school senior.
• Applicant must have GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Applicant must be (plan to be) enrolled as full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).
• Graduate students are not eligible.
• Applications & attachments must be typed.
• Applicant name must appear on each page of application and all attachments.
• Use additional paper as needed to list achievements and answer essay questions.
• Answers to questions should be as brief as possible yet still be specific to the topic.

Scholarship Checklist:
1. Completed and signed application form.
2. Copy of most recent transcript.
3. Two letters of reference. (May be sent separately.)
4. Other information requested but not included in application form.
Application Deadline: All applications and attachments must be postmarked on or before April 30.
Award Notification: Notification will be sent on or before July 1. All applicants will be sent notification of their status.

All eligible candidates must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.

Students who would like to apply for consideration should submit a 500 word essay on the topic: “Why I’m Choosing To Become A Lawyer” Within your essay, please address each subtopic below.
How your unique personal experiences and values lead you to choose a career in law.
How this scholarship will help you achieve your goals.
How you plan to use your legal education to make a meaningful impact on society and promote social justice.
Your current GPA (via official or unofficial course transcript)
Proof of enrollment or acceptance in your college or university (this document can usually be obtained from your university’s student portal)
A 400-800 word essay with the subject “How Resilience Empowers” (learn more about the essay here) attached as a document or a Google docs link (make sure to update the sharing settings!)

Reference letters can be written by anyone who is familiar with the applicant. For instance, a teacher, a professor, an employer, or someone who has worked with the applicant in their community service endeavors. Family members are discouraged from writing reference letters for applicants.
