WASFA Application

The Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) Application

If you are an undocumented student who qualifies as a Washington resident, you may fill out a WASFA application to be considered for the Washington College Grant and other state and institutional sources. Federal aid like the Pell grant and student loans are not available through the WASFA.

If you qualify for and have filed a FAFSA, you cannot also file a WASFA.

File Your WASFA

File your WASFA by the priority date of January 31 (new and current students) to maximize your aid options!

If this is your first WASFA, you will need to create an account through the Washington Student Achievement Council’s website, wsac.wa.gov. This site is where you will file your WASFA every year.

See the following websites for helpful information about filing your WASFA and attending WSU as an undocumented student:

Once you have filled a WASFA, the following year’s application is much simpler. You will need to log in to your account and update your existing WASFA information for the upcoming academic year.

You must file a new WASFA every year to continue receiving financial aid!

You may be selected to provide additional documents to verify the information on your WASFA. Please check your myWSU account and university email frequently to see if you have been selected for verification. If you do not submit the additional documents requested, your WASFA will not be processed and you will not receive aid.

Additional Documentation and Verification Priority Dates

  • Fall Semester: July 31
  • Spring Semester: December 1

WASFA Highlights

WSU Priority Date

File your WASFA by January 31.

What is the WASFA Priority Date?

WSU’s WASFA priority date is not a deadline. You may still fill out the WASFA after the priority date has passed. However, some types of financial aid are limited and applications received by the priority date will have first consideration.

If you missed the priority date due to extenuating circumstances, you may contact our office to submit an appeal. The appeal is not a guarantee of “on-time” filing status.

WSU School Code

003800

You must include this code on your WASFA or WSU will not receive your WASFA information and we will not be able to offer you aid.

Forgot to add us? You may update your WASFA with additional schools at any time.

Attending Summer Session?

Summer session is the final semester of the academic year at WSU. If you already have a current year WASFA on file, you do not need to fill out a new one for summer.

Example: the 2024-25 WASFA is good for Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and Summer 2025.

WASFA FAQ

The WASFA is available to students who:

  • Do not qualify for federal funding under the FAFSA
    • This includes undocumented students who do not have social security numbers.
  • Are Washington State Residents

If you qualify under Washington State Bill HB-1079 or DACA, you should complete the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).

Washington student residency requirements differ depending on immigration status, military status and more. Determine your residency status on WSU’s Student Residency Page.
