Scholarships FAQ

Admission Award Consideration

WSU admissions scholarships based on academic merit or recruitment criteria are tied directly to the undergraduate admission process. Examples include Top Scholars, the WUE, the Crimson Transfer award and more. WSU automatically considers you for these awards after you have submitted a complete admission application. WSU admissions will notify eligible students of any admission-based awards shortly after admission decisions are sent.

Please note: There is often a delay between admissions notifying you of an award and that award showing up on your student account.

Departmental WSU Scholarships

Most other WSU scholarships are awarded through the WSU General Scholarship Application. The general timeline for receiving these awards is:

  1. Apply for Admission
  2. Submit Your FAFSA/WASFA
  3. Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application
    • Be sure to file by the priority deadline each year!
  4. Committee Review
  5. Final Award Decisions

Scholarship awarding happens in rounds as funding becomes available and committees complete their reviews. Not hearing early does not mean you won’t receive a scholarship. Many awards are offered later in the spring or early summer preceding the next academic year. Most scholarships follow these general timelines:
