ChemClub Student Scholarship Application

ELIGIBILITY

  • You must be a current high school senior, graduating in 2023 and planning to enroll full-time at an accredited college located in the United States, starting in Fall 2023.
  • You must be an active student member of a Chartered ChemClub Program (meaning that your Club is registered as an ACS ChemClub for the 2022-2023 school year.)
  • You must plan to pursue a major in a STEM field. This can include, chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, material science, food science, forensic science, etc.

  • Complete the online application below by March 31, 2023.
  • Your ChemClub teacher advisor must complete and submit a recommendation form. This form will be automatically generated and sent to your advisor during the application process. *Note that you will be asked for the name and email address of your ChemClub teacher advisor. It’s a good idea to notify your ChemClub advisor about your intent to apply for this scholarship before you complete the application, so that they expect an email from us with completion instructions. The deadline for teacher-advisors to complete the recommendation form is April 10, 2023.
  • An electronic copy of your high school transcript (official or unofficial) must be sent to us directly by your school (this could be from a guidance counselor or school administrator).  You can ask the appropriate school official to send it to HSChemClubs@acs.org or if your high school uses an online transcript service to send official transcripts, it can be sent to the same email address. This must be received by April 10, 2023.

Trueinsight STEM and Engineering Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Scholarship is to be used for a STEM or Engineering related degree
  • Open to High School Seniors or existing college/university students
  • Student must be attending a US based university or institution

Scholarships are awarded twice per year.

AISES A.T. Anderson Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Any STEM related degree such as Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Physical Science, Technology, Science, Engineering, or Natural Resources.
  • Students must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited two-year or four-year college/university for the 2022-2023 academic year.
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA.
  • All scholarships require applicants be current AISES members at the time of application.
  • Applicants must be: an enrolled citizen or a decedent of an enrolled citizen of a federal or state recognized American Indian Tribe or Alaska Native Village; or Native Hawaiian or decedent from a Native Hawaiian; or Pacific Islander or decedent from Pacific Islander; or Indigenous person of Canada. Enrollment documents and/or a copy of birth certificate(s) showing descendancy from an enrolled citizen, Indigenous group of Canada, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander are acceptable. Applicant may also, instead, provide a copy of their Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood or Certificate of Degree of Alaska Native Blood (CDIB) card.

How to Apply:

  • Essays: Students are required to submit 3 essays, up to 500 words each.  These essays are an important part of the scholarship review process.
    • Essay Prompt 1: Please share a personal statement highlighting your background, academic achievements, and interests. Include information on courses taken and any honors or advanced placement courses. Talk about what motivates and challenges you intellectually and what impact you hope to have in your community and/or profession.
    • Essay Prompt 2: What stimulated your interest in your chosen major or area of study?
    • Essay Prompt 3:  What activity or activities (cultural, community-related, occupational, academic, athletic, etc.) most clearly reflect your character?  Please describe your participation. Why is participation in this activity or these activities important to you?

Scholarship Amount:

  •  $1,000 for the academic year for undergraduate students
  •  $2,000 for the academic year for graduate students

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship- Baccalaureate Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements:

  • RESIDENCY
    • Be a Washington state resident as defined by state Legislature (RCW 28B.15.012).
    • Earn a high school diploma or GED from a Washington state institution by June of the year of application.
  • FINANCIAL NEED
  • ACADEMIC RECORD
    • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) as of application date of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale), demonstrated on either a current college or high school transcript; OR
    • A passing GED score, demonstrated on an official score report.
  • ENROLLMENT PLAN
    • Plan to pursue an eligible science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care major as defined on the eligible majors list.
    • Plan to enroll at an eligible Washington state institution for the fall term following selection as defined on the list of eligible college and universities.
    • Plan to enroll at least half-time (six or more credits) every term. Scholars are not expected to enroll in nor does WSOS fund summer term.
  • PREVIOUS EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
    • Do not yet have a bachelor’s degree.
    • Applicant must currently be a:
      • High school senior or graduate (high school equivalency)
      • College freshman or college sophomore. If the applicant has completed any college terms or college credits post high-school, they must meet either the maximum term OR maximum credit requirement stated below:
        1. Maximum Terms Completed: The applicant must have completed no more than six quarters or four semesters of college at the end of the current academic year; OR
        2. Maximum Credits Earned: The applicant must have earned no more than 90 quarter or 60 semester credits at the end of the current academic year

Application Process

Interested applicants must complete the entire application process. Applicants must:

  1. Complete all application sections via the Scholarship Application Portal and click “Submit” by the application deadline.
  2. Mail a copy of your transcript or GED scores to WSOS c/o Baccalaureate Scholarship at this address: 1414 31st Ave S., Suite 302, Seattle, WA 98144.
  3. Submit the FAFSA or WASFA for the relevant academic year by the deadline on the application timeline.

The application will require approximately 60 to 90 minutes to complete. Applicants may start the application, save progress and return to complete it later up until the application deadline. Applicants should know what college they expect to attend and what major they intend to complete before beginning their application.

Rise Marketing STEM Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited University.
  • Must be majoring in a STEM field.

How to Apply:

  • Student must write a short essay about themselves.
  • Additionally the student must complete the online application found on the scholarships website.

 

J. Herman and Jean Kaye Swartz Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Minimum GPA 3.25
  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior
  • Major in Biotechnology
  • Follows WSU’s Standards of Conduct as describes in Student Handbook
