To be considered for all available WSU scholarship opportunities, complete the WSU General Scholarship Application by January 31 and apply for admissions by March 31.
WSU General Scholarship Application
The yearly WSU General Scholarship Application enters you into consideration for multiple scholarships. Even if your grades aren’t perfect, apply! Many scholarships consider academic interests, financial need, community service, leadership, campus involvement and more!

Recruitment Awards

Western Undergraduate Exchange Awards
The WUE is a tuition savings program that allows students from participating western states to attend out-of-state colleges and universities for no more than 150% of the participating school’s in-state tuition.
WUE Cougar Distinguished Scholars
$15,000 Per Year
Four-Year Award

Eligibility:
- First Time Incoming, First-Year Student
- Undergraduate, Degree-seeking
- 12 Credits Per Semester
- Non-Washington State Resident
- 3.75 – 4.0 Unweighted High School GPA
WUE Cougar Scholars
$12,000 Per Year
Four-Year Award

Eligibility:
- First Time Incoming, First-Year Student Entering Fall 2027 and After
- Undergraduate, Degree-seeking
- 12 Credits Per Semester
- Non-Washington State Resident
- 3.3 – 3.74 Unweighted High School GPA

The Advantage
The Cougar Advantage Award
$5,000 Per Year
Four-Year Award
The Cougar Advantage Scholarship is a tuition support award automatically offered to qualifying out-of-state students during the admissions process. The Cougar Advantage Award cannot be combined with any other recruitment award. For questions about eligibility, please contact future.coug@wsu.edu.
Cougar Advantage Eligibility:
- First Time Incoming, First-Year Student
- Undergraduate, Degree-seeking
- 12 Credits Per Semester
- Non-Washington State Resident
- 2.0 – 3.29 Unweighted High School GPA
Crimson Award
The Crimson Transfer Award
$2,000 Per Year
Three-Year Award
The Crimson Transfer Award is available to both in-state and out-of-state students transferring into an undergraduate degree program on the Pullman campus. The Crimson Transfer Award cannot be combined with any other recruitment award. For questions about eligibility, please contact future.coug@wsu.edu.
Crimson Transfer Eligibility:
- First time incoming, undergraduate student
- Degree-seeking program
- If transferring with 27 semester credits (40 quarter credits) or more: 3.2 unweighted GPA
- If transferring with fewer than 27 semester credits: 3.4 unweighted high school GPA and minimum 3.2 cumulative transfer GPA
- Pullman campus
- 12 credits per semester
Additional Awards
These awards are available to both resident and non-resident students.
National Merit Scholarship
Full Tuition Waiver
Four-Year Award

You’re eligible for a National Merit Scholarship if you’re identified as a semifinalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and you are admitted to WSU Pullman immediately after high school graduation.
The National Merit Scholarship cannot be combined with any other WSU tuition waivers or admissions awards. Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, and transfer students are not eligible.
Glenn Terrell Presidential Award
$4,000 Per Year
Four-Year Award

Selection is competitive based on academic strength and submission of the WSU General Scholarship Application.
Eligibility:
- Completed Admissions Materials by May 1
- Completed WSU General Scholarship Application by May 1
