WUE/Cougar Award

$10,000

 

With the Western Undergraduate Exchange or WUE (here we call it the Cougar Award), an out-of-state student may receive a $10,000 award, renewable for an addtional three years. Qualified students receive the award automatically, and are notified upon their offer of admission to WSU. No additional action or forms are required for consideration.

See if you’re eligible

To receive the award, you must also:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. outside the state of Washington
  • Enter the Pullman campus as a freshman
  • Be charged non-resident tuition

This award cannot be combined with National Merit scholarships.

WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers

$10,000

 

With the Transfer Western Undergraduate Exchange or WUE (here we call it the Cougar Award for Transfers), an out-of-state transfer student may receive a $10,000 award, for an additional three years or until attainment of first Bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. Qualified students receive the award automatically, and are notified upon their offer of admission to WSU. No additional action or forms are required for consideration.

See if you’re eligible

To receive the award, you must also:

  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Be a resident outside the state of Washington and charged non-resident tuition
  • Enroll at the Pullman campus as a transfer student starting in fall 2018

National Merit Scholarship

WSU offers generous scholarships to National Merit Scholarship finalists and semifinalists.

ELIGIBILITY AND RENEWAL

Out-of-State Experience

$1,000

One-time award (not renewable)

Out-of-State Experience is both a scholarship program and a campus visit event.

Eligibility:

  • Apply for admission by January 31 and accept admission offer
  • Resident of a state other than Washington
  • Attend the entire event
  • Each student can receive only one campus visit award
  • National Merit awardees are not eligible
