Students

If you are interested in the Regents Scholars Program, your first step is to let your school counselor or principal know. Whether you’re nominated for a Regents award or not, be sure to apply for admission and submit the WSU scholarship application. There are many other WSU scholarships you may qualify for, and we’d love to have you here.

Nomination

If you have been nominated for a WSU Regents Scholarship, you will need to complete the following steps by December 1st to be eligible for an award.

  1. Complete the WSU admission application.
  2. Complete the WSU general scholarship application.
  3. Have unofficial transcripts sent to the WSU Office of Admission.
  • All items must be received by WSU by the deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.

Official transcripts can be submitted electronically from your high school to WSU via “Parchment”, “Scribbles”, “eScrip-Safe”, or “National Student Clearinghouse”. Transcripts can also be faxed to the Office of Admissions (509-335-4902), if you chose to fax, it must include a cover letter and must come directly from the high school administration office.

Mailed materials can be sent to this address:

Nominators

An email with the details of the nomination process and your high school’s unique nomination link will be sent to a representative at all eligible* Washington high schools prior to the nominations opening October 1st.

We are looking for Washington residents who are attending a Washington Sate high school and have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to their communities, academics, and extracurricular activities. Our team encourages you to consider students who may not be the most outgoing on campus, but have demonstrated academic excellence (3.6 GPA) while balancing responsibilities in their home and community. Our Regents Scholars often rank in the top two percent of their class, possess a passion for learning, and benefit from a wide range of experience that propels them above their peers. They demonstrate a purposeful, long-term commitment to volunteer activities and causes within their school and in the general community. Several have also achieved their success while facing extraordinary family situations, special personal circumstances, or working part-time jobs.

  • *Eligible high schools must have a minimum enrollment of 100 students in grades 9-12 as well as a College Entrance Examination Board number.

Your staff may nominate two high school seniors who are Washington residents. A separate nomination form for each student must be submitted by October 31st 11:59 pm PST. If either of your nominees decides not to attend WSU, no further nominations may be made.

If your Washington high school does not receive the invitation email, please contact Kati Vandermark, Senior Advisor with WSU Student Financial Services, at sfs.regentsscholars@wsu.edu or (509) 335-9711 for more information and assistance.

Nomination

You will be asked to submit a narrative describing the nominated student. Please provide us with some background on why you believe this student is deserving of the Regents Scholars Award. Consider including: academic strengths and interests, the student’s leadership capability, involvement in extra-curricular activities, or other factors, both inside and outside of school, that may have influenced the student.  Narratives are limited to 500 words.

If you do not know the student personally, please ask their teachers for assistance with the nomination narrative.

Once the nomination has been submitted and received, future communication from WSU will be sent directly to the nominated student. Nominated students must complete and submit a WSU application for admission and WSU scholarship application.
