The terms and conditions below apply to awards offered during the specified year. To view the Terms and Conditions related to your original award year, please choose from the menu below.  (These terms are applicable to Pullman-based awards.  If you are receiving an award based on another campus, please contact that campus for the Terms and Conditions of that award.)

If you are in your final semester before graduation, and will be less than full time, please email scholarships@wsu.edu to discuss options for receiving all or a portion of your award for that term.

Awards for 2021-22

Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021-2022

($4,000 – $2,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Fall 2020 and after*

To receive this scholarship, you must at WSU beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman or a transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Funds from the Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

Incoming Freshman:

The Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • AADS level ($2,000) Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Distinguished level ($4,000) maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Incoming Transfer Students:

The Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • AADS level ($2,000) Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Distinguished level ($4,000) maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Cougar Award

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($7,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

To receive this out of state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the semester you were admitted and awarded for, as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Note: should your out-of-state residency status change to in-state, you will no longer be eligible for the Cougar Award.

Funds from the Cougar Award will credit against non-resident tuition charges. One half of your Cougar Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. In addition, the total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed tuition amount charged. The Cougar Award cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship.

The Cougar Award is renewable for an additional three years or a maximum of eight total semesters if you meet the following conditions each year of the award:

  1. Maintain good academic standing with the university by the end of spring semester;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus;
  3. Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of each spring semester
  4. Maintain non-resident status; and,
  5. Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status.
  6. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Students cannot use the Cougar Award while completing a study abroad program through the university. However, you may be eligible for an additional semester(s) of support at the end of your four year term, provided that you meet all other renewability criteria.

Students receiving an ROTC tuition scholarship will receive an ROTC Cougar Award.

Crimson Transfer Award

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($2,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

To receive this scholarship, you must be an incoming undergraduate student, seeking a first degree in a certified program on the Pullman campus beginning with the fall semester as a transfer student, and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Funds from the Crimson Transfer Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your Crimson Transfer Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

The Crimson Transfer Award is renewable for two additional years, maximum of six semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain a minimum 2.50 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  3. Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Distinguished University Achievement Award

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($8,000 – $4,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the Fall semester as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award.  Funds from the Distinguished University Achievement Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your Distinguished University Achievement Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The Distinguished University Achievement Award cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Regents Scholarship.

The Distinguished University Achievement Award is renewable for a second year, maximum of four semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  3. Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  4. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Experience WSU Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($1,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

One half of your scholarship will credit toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.  You must be an incoming undergraduate student, seeking a first degree in a certified program, have applied for admission to WSU by January 31st, attend the entire Experience WSU event, and enroll in a minimum of at least 12 credits per semester on the Pullman campus to receive this scholarship, beginning with the semester you were admitted for. This scholarship is a one year award, and not renewable.

Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility. In addition, the total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed tuition amount charged. These scholarships cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Distinguished-level Regents Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded on a one-time basis as long as the criteria above is met.

Future Cougars Embracing Diversity

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($1,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

One half of your scholarship will credit toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must have applied for admission to WSU by January 31st, attend the entire Future Cougars Embracing Diversity event, and enroll in a minimum of at least 12 credits per semester on the Pullman campus to receive this scholarship, beginning with the semester you were admitted for. This scholarship is a one year award, and not renewable.  Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility. In addition, the total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed tuition amount charged. These scholarships cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Distinguished level Regents Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded on a one-time basis as long as the criteria above is met.

Glenn Terrell Presidential

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

To receive this scholarship you must enroll at WSU beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman or as a transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Funds from the Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.  Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

Incoming Freshman:

The Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Incoming Transfer Students:

The Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship is renewable for maximum of three years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

National Merit Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

To receive this scholarship, you must be identified by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as a semifinalist. Students must enroll on the Pullman or Spokane campus beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the National Merit Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your National Merit Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.  Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The National Merit Scholarship cannot be combined with the University Achievement Award, Cougar Academic Award, Cougar Award (both levels), Regents Scholars Award or Experience WSU.   Recipients of a National Merit Corporation Scholarship or Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship award will have the amount of their WSU scholarship reduced by the amount of the National Merit Corporation or Corporate-Sponsored award.  This full tuition award and the WSU “stipend” from National Merit Scholarship Corporation are one and the same.

*Note: National Merit Scholarship includes tuition charges up to 18 credits.  Mandatory fees and any special course fees are not included in the scholarship.

The National Merit Scholarship is renewable for a second year, maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman or Spokane campus; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Regent Scholars Award

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must be nominated by your high school and meet the eligibility requirements of the award. Students must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the Regents Scholars Award will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Regents Scholars Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The Regents Scholars Award cannot be combined with the University Achievement Award or the National Merit Scholarship. In addition to these, the Distinguished Regents Award cannot be combined with Experience WSU.

The Regents Scholars Program Award is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must continue enrollment on the Pullman campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

One half of your R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship will credit toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must enroll for at least 12 credits per semester, beginning with the Fall semester following receipt of the award, to receive this scholarship and complete the Scholarship Recipient Profile form. Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility and will be included in your Financial Aid Award.You are required to complete a Scholarship Recipient Profile form, before the funds from this scholarship will disburse to your account. This form will be shared with donors and replaces a traditional thank-you letter. To complete and submit the Scholarship Recipient Profile form, please visit SubmitSFSDocs.wsu.edu, our secure, online portal. This form must be submitted no later than 60 days after the receipt of this email or your award will be removed from your myWSU account.

The R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship is automatically renewable for three additional years, if you meet each of the following renewal criteria:

  • Enroll in a minimum of 12 credits each semester;
  • Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application by January 31st each year;
  • Indicate your intent to teach in the public school system on the WSU General Scholarship Application each year
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.00, by the end of each spring semester;
  • Demonstrate financial need, as determined by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA), submitted by November 30th each year.

University Achievement Award

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($4,000 Level – $2,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the University Achievement Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your University Achievement Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The University Achievement Award cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Regents Scholarship.

The University Achievement Award is renewable for a second year, maximum of four semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  3. Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  4. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

WSU Faculty/Staff Dependent Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($1,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

One half of your scholarship will be credited towards fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must enroll in a minimum of at least 12 credits per semester.  Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility.

To be eligible for this award, you must be the dependent child of one of the following:

  • WSU classified staff members holding half time or greater appointments and having permanent status or on trial service.
  • Faculty and A/P employees holding permanent, half time or greater appointments.
  • County-paid staff members having permanent status and working half time or more for WSU Extension.
  • USDA ARS paid employees having permanent status and working half time or more.

The WSU Faculty/ Staff Dependent Scholarship is renewable for one additional year if each of the following renewal criteria is met:

  1. Enroll in a minimum of 12 credits each semester;
  2. Complete 24 graded credit hours for each year of the award;
  3. Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application for the year of the award.
  4. Your parent is still meeting the employee criteria outlined above.
  5. Maintain good academic standing based on institutional rules; and,
  6. Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status.

Eligibility for this award will cease should you:

  1. Receive your first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Exceed the age of 25.
  3. Fail to be continually enrolled; or,
  4. Fail to meet the renewal criteria outlined above.

WSU Foundation Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

You must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you plan to enroll for fewer than 12 credits, please contact our office. This scholarship is not renewable. Funds from this award will credit against tuition charges. One half of the award will be credited toward fall semester tuition and the other half toward spring semester tuition. Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.  Your eligibility for this award ceases if enrollment is discontinued or if any of these conditions are not met. In order for you to compete for this and other centrally administered scholarships, you must complete the WSU General Scholarship Application every year.

The WSU Foundation is the fundraising arm of Washington State University and prudently manages private funds entrusted by donors.  The WSU Foundation communicates with donors annually and reports on how their investments are being used to benefit WSU students, faculty and programs. 

WUE/Cougar Award for Transfer Students

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($11,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2020 and Fall 2020*

To receive this out of state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the semester you were admitted and awarded for, as a first-time transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) you are not eligible for this award. Note: should your out-of-state residency status change to in-state, you will no longer be eligible for the WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers.

Funds from the WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers will credit against non-resident tuition charges. One half of your WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. In addition, the total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed tuition amount charged. The WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship.

The WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers is renewable for an additional three years or until attainment of first Bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first, if you meet the following conditions each year of the award:

  1. Maintain good academic standing with the university by the end of spring semester;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus;
  3. Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of each spring semester;
  4. Maintain non-resident status; and,
  5. Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status.
  6. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Cougar Award

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($7,000 per year/ $3,500 per semester)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2021 and after*

To receive this out of state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the semester you were admitted and awarded for, as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. The Cougar Award cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship.

The Cougar Award is renewable for an additional three years or a maximum of eight total semesters if you meet the following conditions each year of the award:

  1. Maintain good academic standing with the university by the end of spring semester;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus;
  3. Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of each spring semester
  4. Maintain non-resident status; and,
  5. Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status.
  6. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Students cannot use the Cougar Award while completing a study abroad program through the university. However, you may be eligible for an additional semester(s) of support at the end of your four year term, provided that you meet all other renewability criteria.

Students receiving an ROTC tuition scholarship will receive an ROTC Cougar Award.

($2,000 per year/ $1,000 per semester)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2021 and after*

To receive this scholarship, you must be an incoming undergraduate student, seeking a first degree in a certified program on the Pullman campus beginning with the fall semester as a transfer student, and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Funds from the Crimson Transfer Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your Crimson Transfer Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

The Crimson Transfer Award is renewable for two additional years, maximum of six semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain a minimum 2.50 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  3. Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the Fall semester as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award.  Funds from the Distinguished University Achievement Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your Distinguished University Achievement Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The Distinguished University Achievement Award cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Regents Scholarship.

  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,

Experience WSU Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($1,000 per year/ $500 per semester)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2021 and after*

One half of your scholarship will credit toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must be an incoming undergraduate student, seeking a first degree in a certified program, have applied for admission to WSU by March 15, attend the entire Experience WSU event, and enroll in a minimum of at least 12 credits per semester on the Pullman campus to receive this scholarship, beginning with the semester you were admitted for. This scholarship is a one year award, and not renewable.

Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility. In addition, the total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed tuition amount charged. These scholarships cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Distinguished-level Regents Scholarship.

This scholarship is awarded on a one-time basis as long as the criteria above is met.

Glenn Terrell Presidential

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

To receive this scholarship you must enroll at WSU beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman or as a transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Funds from the Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.  Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

Incoming Freshman:

The Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship is renewable for a second year, maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Incoming Transfer Students:

The Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship is renewable for a second year, maximum of three years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

National Merit Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

To receive this scholarship, you must be identified by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as a semifinalist. Students must enroll on the Pullman or Spokane campus beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the National Merit Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your National Merit Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.  Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The National Merit Scholarship cannot be combined with the University Achievement Award, Cougar Academic Award, Cougar Award (both levels), Regents Scholars Award or Experience WSU.   Recipients of a National Merit Corporation Scholarship or Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship award will have the amount of their WSU scholarship reduced by the amount of the National Merit Corporation or Corporate-Sponsored award.  This full tuition award and the WSU “stipend” from National Merit Scholarship Corporation are one and the same.

*Note: National Merit Scholarship includes tuition charges up to 18 credits.  Mandatory fees and any special course fees are not included in the scholarship.

The National Merit Scholarship is renewable for a second year, maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman or Spokane campus; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must be nominated by your high school and meet the eligibility requirements of the award. Students must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the fall semester as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the Regents Scholars Award will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Regents Scholars Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.  Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The Regents Scholars Award cannot be combined with the University Achievement Award or the National Merit Scholarship. In addition to these, the Distinguished Regents Award cannot be combined with Experience WSU.

The Regents Scholars Program Award is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  • Complete 24 graded semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Must continue enrollment on the Pullman campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

($4,000 per year/ $2,000 per semester)

One half of your R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship will credit toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must enroll for at least 12 credits per semester, beginning with the Fall semester following receipt of the award, to receive this scholarship and complete the Scholarship Recipient Profile form. Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility and will be included in your Financial Aid Award.  You are required to complete a Scholarship Recipient Profile form, before the funds from this scholarship will disburse to your account. This form will be shared with donors and replaces a traditional thank-you letter. To complete and submit the Scholarship Recipient Profile form, please visit SubmitSFSDocs.wsu.edu, our secure, online portal. This form must be submitted no later than 60 days after the receipt of this email or your award will be removed from your myWSU account.

The R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship is automatically renewable for three additional years, if you meet each of the following renewal criteria:

  • Enroll in a minimum of 12 credits each semester;
  • Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application by March 15, 2021;
  • Indicate your intent to teach in the public school system on the WSU General Scholarship Application each year
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.00, by the end of each spring semester;
  • Demonstrate financial need, as determined by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA), submitted by November 30th each year.

WSU Faculty/Staff Dependent Scholarship

($1,000 per year/ $500 per semester) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2021 and after*

One half of your scholarship will be credited towards fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must enroll in a minimum of at least 12 credits per semester. Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility.

To be eligible for this award, you must be the dependent child of one of the following:

  • WSU classified staff members holding half time or greater appointments and having permanent status or on trial service.
  • Faculty and A/P employees holding permanent, half time or greater appointments.
  • County-paid staff members having permanent status and working half time or more for WSU Extension.
  • USDA ARS paid employees having permanent status and working half time or more.

The WSU Faculty/ Staff Dependent Scholarship is renewable for one additional year if each of the following renewal criteria is met:

  1. Enroll in a minimum of 12 credits each semester;
  2. Complete 24 graded credit hours for each year of the award;
  3. Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application for the year of the award.
  4. Your parent is still meeting the employee criteria outlined above.
  5. Maintain good academic standing based on institutional rules; and,
  6. Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status.

Eligibility for this award will cease should you:

  1. Receive your first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Exceed the age of 25.
  3. Fail to be continually enrolled; or,
  4. Fail to meet the renewal criteria outlined above.

WSU Foundation Scholarship

Academic Year: 2021 – 2022

You must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you plan to enroll for fewer than 12 credits, please contact our office. This scholarship is not renewable. Funds from this award will credit against tuition charges. One half of the award will be credited toward fall semester tuition and the other half toward spring semester tuition. Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.Your eligibility for this award ceases if enrollment is discontinued or if any of these conditions are not met. In order for you to compete for this and other centrally administered scholarships, you must complete the WSU General Scholarship Application every year.

To receive this out of state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the semester you were admitted and awarded for, as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Note: should your out-of-state residency status change to in-state, you will no longer be eligible for the WUE/Distinguished Cougar Award.
