Student Financial Aid Apply for Aid
Completing your WASFA application

If you are an undocumented student who qualifies for HB-1079 or DACA, one of the most important steps to complete every year is your Washington Application for State Financial Aid, commonly known as the WASFA.

This application will enable you to be considered for the Washington State Need Grant and for aid awarded by WSU.

The WASFA application is for HB-1079 and DACA students only.

WASFA Application

Dates and deadlines

  • October 1: WASFA application opens
  • January 31: WASFA application priority deadline
  • February 15: Current student requested documents deadline
  • May 15: New student & former student returning requested documents deadline

Be sure to meet the January 31 priority deadline for WSU admission applications. We cannot process your WASFA application until your admission application is complete.

Document submission

While our office processes your WASFA application we highly encourage you to keep an eye out on your myWSU email and account for additional document requests by our office. Without the submission of these documents, your application will not be processed.

The deadline to turn in the requested documentation is May 15.
If this deadline is missed, your WASFA will not be processed.

Renewing your application

Once you have filled a WASFA, the following year’s application is much simpler. You will need to log in to your account and update your existing WASFA information for the upcoming academic year.

First-time filers

The first step you will need to complete in order to fill out you WASFA application is creating an account through ReadySetGrad. By doing this you will be able to access the WASFA application every year as well as make any edits as needed. Once your account has been created you may begin to fill out your WASFA. Applications for the 2016-2017 academic year will be available for completion January 4th 2016. If you are currently not a student at WSU, remember you must submit an admissions application to WSU by January 31st for your WASFA to be processed.

Keep in mind that your WASFA will be used for the entire academic year. So, for example, the 2016-2017 WASFA is used for Fall 2016, Spring 2010 and Summer 2017. If you have any questions as to which academic period to file, contact the Student Financial Services office on your WSU campus.

Late filers

If you missed the February 15 filing deadline, your application will not be processed.

If extenuating circumstances prevented you from meeting the deadline for completing the WASFA or submitting additional requested documents, contact your the Student Financial Services office on your WSU campus for information on our appeal process. Please understand that this appeal does not guarantee that your application will be processed.
