The terms and conditions below apply to awards offered during the specified year. To view the Terms and Conditions related to your original award year, please choose from the menu below.  (These terms are applicable to Pullman-based awards.  If you are receiving an award based on another campus, please contact that campus for the Terms and Conditions of that award.)

If you are in your final semester before graduation, and will be less than full time, please email scholarships@wsu.edu to discuss options for receiving all or a portion of your award for that term.

Awards for 2024-25

Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($4,000 – $2,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Fall 2024 and after*

To receive this scholarship, you must begin at WSU beginning with the fall semester as a first-year or a transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Funds from the Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

Incoming First-Year Students:

The Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • AADS level ($2,000) Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Distinguished level ($4,000) maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Incoming Transfer Students:

The Academic Achievement/Diversity Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • AADS level ($2,000) Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Distinguished level ($4,000) maintain a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Crimson Transfer Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($2,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

To receive this scholarship, you must be an incoming undergraduate student, seeking a first degree in a certified program on the Pullman campus, as a transfer student, and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Students must have a minimum transfer GPA of 3.2 if you have with a minimum of 27 semester or 40 quarter credits of transferable work by the time you enroll – OR- have a minimum 3.4 unweighted high school GPA and minimum 3.2 cumulative transfer GPA if you have less than 27 transferable semester credits. Funds from the Crimson Transfer Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your Crimson Transfer Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

The Crimson Transfer Award is renewable for two additional years, maximum of six semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Distinguished University Achievement Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($8,000 – $4,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus as a first-time, incoming student, with a 3.8 unweighted high school grade point average, and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the Distinguished University Achievement Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your Distinguished University Achievement Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The Distinguished University Achievement Award cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Regents Scholarship.

The Distinguished University Achievement Award is renewable for a second year, maximum of four semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  3. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Experience WSU Scholarship

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($1,000 per year)*This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

One half of your scholarship will credit toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must be an incoming undergraduate student, seeking a first degree in a certified program, attend the entire Experience WSU event, and enroll in a minimum of at least 12 credits per semester on the Pullman campus to receive this scholarship, beginning with the semester you were admitted for. This scholarship is a one-year award, and not renewable.

Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility. In addition, the total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed tuition amount charged.

This scholarship is awarded on a one-time basis as long as the criteria above is met.

Glenn Terrell Presidential

Academic Year: 2024-2025

To receive this scholarship, you must enroll at WSU beginning with the fall semester as an incoming first-time or incoming transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Funds from the Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.

Incoming Freshman:

The Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Incoming Transfer Students:

The Glenn Terrell Presidential Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of three years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester; and,
  • Must maintain continuous enrollment at any WSU campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

International First-Year Academic Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025
($4,000 – $2,000 per year)The International First-Year Academic Award (IFAA) is offered to non-immigrant visa, non-resident, degree seeking undergraduate freshman students who have achieved a cumulative High School GPA of 3.3 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) before enrolling at Washington State University (WSU). If you have been enrolled previously at WSU or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. To receive this award, you must enroll at one of the WSU Campuses in Pullman, Tri-Cities, or Vancouver, beginning the term you are offered admission as a first-time freshman and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester.Funds from the IFAA will automatically credit against tuition charges on your WSU student account. One half of your IFAA will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

  • Level One- $4,000 per academic year – High School Cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher (on 4.0 scale). Award is based on High School GPA. Award level does not change once enrolled at WSU.
  • Level Two- $2,000 per academic year – High School Cumulative GPA of 3.3-3.59 (on 4.0 scale). Award is based on High School GPA. Award level does not change once enrolled at WSU.

The IFAA cannot be combined with other institutional awards from Washington State University nor can it be awarded to sponsored students. The total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed the tuition amount charged by the university. This award will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Funds are limited; therefore students who are admitted later in the term are not guaranteed this award.

The International First-Year Academic Award is automatically renewable for a maximum of eight (8) semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester, or complete 24 semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Maintain non-resident degree seeking student status.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree; or
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

International Transfer Academic Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025

The International Transfer Academic Award (ITAA) is offered to non-immigrant visa, non-resident, degree seeking undergraduate transfer students who have achieved a cumulative transfer GPA of 3.3 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) before enrolling at Washington State University (WSU). If you have been enrolled previously at WSU or are entering WSU as a freshman student, you are not eligible for this award. To receive this award, you must enroll at one of the WSU Campuses in Pullman, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, Everett, or Spokane, beginning the term you are offered admission as a first-time transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester.

Funds from the ITAA will automatically credit against tuition charges on your WSU student account. One half of your ITAA will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

  • Level One- $4,000 per academic year – Cumulative GPA of 3.6 or higher (on 4.0 scale). Award is based on the cumulative GPA from the transferring institution(s), as determined using WSU’s GPA policies. Award level does not change once enrolled at WSU.
  • Level Two- $2,000 per academic year – Cumulative GPA of 3.3-3.59 (on 4.0 scale). Award is based on the cumulative GPA from the transferring institution(s), as determined using WSU’s GPA policies. Award level does not change once enrolled at WSU.

The ITAA cannot be combined with other institutional awards from Washington State University nor can it be awarded to sponsored students. The total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed the tuition amount charged by the university. This award will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Funds are limited; therefore students who are admitted later in the term are not guaranteed this award.

The International Transfer Academic Award is automatically renewable for a maximum of six (6) semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria for each academic year:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester, or complete 24 semester credits by the end of spring semester.
  • Maintain non-resident degree seeking student status.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree; or
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

International Year One Progression Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025

The International Year One Progression Award (IYOPA) is a $4,000 award offered to non-immigrant visa, non-resident students who have progressed out of an International Year One (Undergraduate Foundation Program) program with at least a 3.5 GPA in their academic coursework while in the program. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU as a direct-entry undergraduate student, you are not eligible for this award. To receive this award, you must enroll as a degree-seeking undergraduate student at one of the WSU Campuses in Pullman, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, Everett, or Spokane, beginning the first regular term after you progress out of the International Year One/Undergraduate Foundation program (excludes summer). You must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester.

Funds from the IYOPA will automatically credit against tuition charges on your WSU student account. One half of your IYOPA ($2,000) will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half ($2,000) toward spring semester costs.

The IYOPA cannot be combined with other institutional awards from Washington State University nor can it be awarded to fully sponsored students. The total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed the tuition amount charged by the university. This award will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Funds are limited; therefore students who are admitted later in the term are not guaranteed this award.

The International Year One Progression Award is automatically renewable for up to 2 additional years (4 semesters), if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade-point average by the end of spring semester each year;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester;
  • Maintain non-resident degree seeking student status.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree; or
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

National Merit Scholarship

Academic Year: 2024-2025

To receive this scholarship, you must be identified by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as a semifinalist. Students must enroll on the Pullman or Spokane campus beginning with the fall semester as a first-year incoming student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the National Merit Scholarship will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your National Merit Scholarship will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The National Merit Scholarship cannot be combined with the University Achievement Award, Cougar Award (both levels) or Regents Scholars Award. Recipients of a National Merit Corporation Scholarship or Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship award will have the amount of their WSU scholarship reduced by the amount of the National Merit Corporation or Corporate-Sponsored award. This full tuition award and the WSU “stipend” from National Merit Scholarship Corporation are one and the same.

*Note: National Merit Scholarship includes tuition charges up to 18 credits.  Mandatory fees and any special course fees are not included in the scholarship.

The National Merit Scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman or Spokane campus; and,
  • Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

Regents Scholars Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must be nominated by your high school and meet the eligibility requirements of the award. Students must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the fall semester as a first-year, incoming student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the Regents Scholars Award will credit against tuition charges. One-half of your Regents Scholars Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The Regents Scholars Award cannot be combined with either level of the University Achievement Award or the National Merit Scholarship.

The Regents Scholars Program Award is renewable for a maximum of four years, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  • Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  • Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  • Must continue enrollment on the Pullman campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  • Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  • Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  • Renewal criteria not being met.

R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship

Academic Year: 2024-2025

One half of your R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship will credit toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must enroll for at least 12 credits per semester, beginning with the Fall semester following receipt of the award, to receive this scholarship. Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility and will be included in your Financial Aid Award.

The per-year scholarship range for the award will be $5,000 – $8,000 depending on your academic grade level or graduate student status. First-year and sophomore level = $5,000 per year and junior, senior and graduate level = $8,000 per year. You may also be eligible for an additional $5,000 for one semester while you are student teaching.

The R.H. and Jane Logan Scholarship is automatically renewable for three additional years, if you meet each of the following renewal criteria:

  • Enroll in a minimum of 12 credits each semester;
  • Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application by January 31st each year;
  • Indicate your intent to teach in the public school system on the WSU General Scholarship Application each year
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.00, by the end of each spring semester;
  • Demonstrate financial need, as determined by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).

University Achievement Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($4,000 Level – $2,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

To receive this in-state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning as a first-year, incoming student with a  3.6 unweighted high school grade point average and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the University Achievement Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your University Achievement Award will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. The University Achievement Award cannot be combined with the National Merit Scholarship or the Regents Scholarship.

The University Achievement Award is renewable for a second year, maximum of four semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain good academic standing per university requirements;
  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus; and,
  3. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

WSU Faculty/Staff Dependent Scholarship

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($1,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

One half of your scholarship will be credited towards fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. You must enroll in a minimum of at least 12 credits per semester.  Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of your final financial aid eligibility.

To be eligible for this award, you must be the dependent child of one of the following:

  • WSU classified staff members holding half time or greater appointments and having permanent status or on trial service.
  • Faculty and A/P employees holding permanent, half time or greater appointments.
  • County-paid staff members having permanent status and working half time or more for WSU Extension.
  • USDA ARS paid employees having permanent status and working half time or more.

The WSU Faculty/ Staff Dependent Scholarship is renewable for one additional year if each of the following renewal criteria is met:

  1. Enroll in a minimum of 12 credits each semester;
  2. Complete 24 graded credit hours for each year of the award;
  3. Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application for the year of the award.
  4. Your parent is still meeting the employee criteria outlined above.
  5. Maintain good academic standing based on institutional rules; and,
  6. Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status.

Eligibility for this award will cease should you:

  1. Receive your first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Exceed the age of 25.
  3. Fail to be continually enrolled; or,
  4. Fail to meet the renewal criteria outlined above.

WSU Foundation Scholarship

Academic Year: 2024-2025

You must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you plan to enroll for fewer than 12 credits, please contact our office. This scholarship is not renewable. Funds from this award will credit against tuition charges. One half of the award will be credited toward fall semester tuition and the other half toward spring semester tuition, unless otherwise indicated in your award letter. Please note, if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility.  Your eligibility for this award ceases if enrollment is discontinued or if any of these conditions are not met. In order for you to compete for this and other centrally administered scholarships, you must complete the WSU General Scholarship Application every year.

The WSU Foundation is the fundraising arm of Washington State University and prudently manages private funds entrusted by donors. The WSU Foundation communicates with donors annually and reports on how their investments are being used to benefit WSU students, faculty and programs. 

WSU Tri-Cities First-Year Resident Achievement Awards

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($2,000 to $4,000 per year, up to four years) *These awards are for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

To receive this in-state waiver, you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester on the Tri-Cities campus beginning as a first-year, incoming student with a

  • 75 or higher unweighted high school GPA (Distinction Award for $4,000/year)
  • 30 to 3.74 unweighted high school GPA (Excellence Award for $3,000/year)
  • 0 to 3.29 unweighted high school GPA (Success Award for $2,000/year)

If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for an achievement award. Funds from the award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your waiver will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. These awards are renewable for a maximum of eight semesters, if you meet the following renewal criteria:

  1. Maintain a 3.20 WSU GPA;
  2. Complete 24 credits in an academic year on the Tri-Cities campus; and,
  3. Must continue enrollment on the Tri-Cities campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met, including changing to another WSU campus.

WSU Tri-Cities Transfer Cougar Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025

($2,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

To receive this in-state waiver, you must be an incoming undergraduate student, seeking a first degree on the Tri-Cities campus as a transfer student, and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. You must have a minimum transfer GPA of 3.50 with a minimum of 27 semester credits (40 quarter credits) of transferable work by the time you enroll. WSU Tri-Cities Transfer WUE/Cougar Award

Academic Year: 2024-2025($11,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

To receive this in-state waiver, you must be an incoming undergraduate transfer student, seeking a first degree on the Tri-Cities campus, and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. Students must have a minimum transfer GPA of 3.0 with a minimum of 27 semester credits (40 quarter credits) of transferable work by the time you enroll. Funds from the Transfer WUE/Cougar Award will credit against tuition charges. One half of your waiver will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Note: You must be charged non-resident tuition to receive this award.

Please note that if you are receiving financial aid, the amount of this award will be included in the determination of financial aid eligibility. In addition, the total amount of this award and other allowable waivers or payments of tuition cannot exceed the tuition amount charged.

  2. Maintain non-resident status;

($11,000 per year) *This award is for students beginning Spring 2024 and Fall 2024*

This out-of-state waiver is awarded to first-year, incoming students on the Tri-Cities campus who were admitted with a minimum 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average. Renewal of these awards each year is dependent on enrolling for at least 12 credits each semester and maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative WSU GPA by the end of fall and spring semesters.

If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) or are entering WSU as a transfer student, you are not eligible for this award. Funds from the WUE/Distinguished Cougar Award will credit against non-resident tuition charges. One half of your waiver will apply toward fall semester costs and the other half toward spring semester costs. Note: You must be charged non-resident tuition to receive this award.

ELIGIBILITY:  Awarded to admitted transfer students attending the Pullman campus, who will start at WSU with 27+ transferable semester credit hours with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students who will start at WSU in the spring are encouraged to have a complete admission file before December 15 of the prior year. Students who will start at WSU in the fall must have a complete admission application file before August 7th. If you don’t have 27 transferable semester credits, you must have a minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 AND a cumulative minimum transfer GPA of 3.0.

To receive this out-of-state scholarship, you must enroll on the Pullman campus beginning with the semester you were admitted and awarded for, as a first-time transfer student and you must enroll for at least 12 credits each semester. If you have been enrolled previously at WSU (other than as part of a Running Start program) you are not eligible for this award. Note: should your out-of-state residency status change to in-state, you will no longer be eligible for the WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers.

  2. Maintain 12 credits each semester on the Pullman campus;
  3. Maintain non-resident status; and,
  4. Maintain undergraduate, non-professional degree status.
  5. Must continue enrollment on the Pullman or Spokane campus.

Eligibility for this award ceases upon:

  1. Receipt of first bachelor’s degree;
  2. Enrollment being discontinued; or,
  3. Renewal criteria not being met.

Students cannot use the WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers while completing a study abroad program through the university. However, you may be eligible for an additional semester(s) of support at the end of your four year term, provided that you meet all other renewability criteria.

Students receiving an ROTC tuition scholarship will receive an ROTC WUE/Cougar Award for Transfers.
