Why do you want to become a civil servant, federal employee, or federal employment attorney?
Students currently enrolled and matriculated in a state-approved nursing program leading to an associate degree, baccalaureate, diploma, direct-entry master’s degree; or enrolled in an RN to BSN completion, RN to MSN completion, or LPN/LVN to RN program;
Matriculation means the student has applied to and has been admitted into a state approved nursing program.
Pre-nursing students taking courses to prepare for matriculation into a nursing program;
Attending classes and taking no less than six (6) credits per semester.
Involvement in nursing school organizations and/or community health activities;
Document academic achievement;
Establish financial need;
U.S. Citizen or Alien with U.S. Permanent Resident Status/Alien Registration Number;
High school students are not eligible to apply;
Funds are not available for graduate study unless it is for a first degree in nursing.

HOW MUCH MONEY IS AVAILABLE?
The NSNA Foundation awards over $500,000 annually. Scholarship funding is up to $10,000 per award.
WHAT CRITERIA ARE USED FOR SELECTION?
The scholarships are based on academic achievement, financial need, and involvement in nursing student organizations and community activities related to health care. Additional criteria may be required by some sponsors.
WHEN WILL THE SCHOLARSHIPS BE AWARDED?
Scholarships are awarded in the spring of 2024 for use in summer school 2024 and the 2024 – 2025 academic year.
WHO CHOOSES THE RECIPIENTS?
A committee of faculty and students is appointed by the NSNA Foundation to select scholars.
WHEN IS THE APPLICATION AVAILABLE? The 2024-2025 online scholarship application will be available on September 8, 2023.

The Barbara Rhomberg Excellence in Nursing Scholarship, sponsored by B4 Brands, is awarded each year to a non-traditional, fulltime student pursuing undergraduate degrees in nursing. Scholarship winners receive a non-renewable scholarship of $1,000 payable directly to the institution in which they are enrolled, for their Fall 2023 Semester.
Undergraduate nursing programs are those offering an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing. Non-traditional students are those students who postponed the pursuit of a college degree after high school, or had their college careers interrupted, and instead entered the workforce, or military or fulfilled a family or non-profit obligation.
Veteran and active duty military service members from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces including the National Guard who have served in both pre-and post-9/11 eras.
Current Spouses of veteran or active service members, including surviving spouses
Must be a full-time* student pursuing one of the following degrees at a public or private, U.S.-based, accredited institution for the upcoming fall/spring academic year:
Scholarships are available to rising college freshman through postgraduate studies (must be enrolled at the time of disbursement to be considered)
Must be enrolled in a U.S. or 4-year-degree-granting institution (including relevant postgraduate studies)
Majoring in Business, Food Management, Accounting, Human Resources, IT or other focuses leading to a career in grocery
Experience in the grocery industry is preferred but not required

The foundation administers 13 scholarships. By completing one application, students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

This scholarship will be paid into your account at your selected university in July/August.
