The Good Samaritan Scholarship is open to all undergraduate, graduate, and law school students, as well as incoming college freshmen.
Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited U.S. educational institution.
They also must show excellent academic standing with at least a 3.0 GPA.
How to Apply:
The following application materials must be submitted via email to info@ctdomesticviolencehelp.com in order to be considered for the Good Samaritan Scholarship:
A current resume that includes up to date contact information and proof of charitable and volunteer experience
A letter of recommendation from someone who can attest to your charitable qualities
An academic transcript
A 500 word essay that identifies the applicant and describes the applicant’s Good Samaritan characteristics as well as examples of acts of kindness towards others
The deadline to apply for this scholarship is December 31, 2021.

Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.High school students who wish to apply must be graduating and/or enrolled in a college or university by the scholarship deadline.

Student must be currently enrolled in or recently accepted to an accredited U.S. law school (Legal Studies scholarship) or accredited U.S. college or university (Undergraduate scholarship);

Submit an essay of between 400-600 words on the following topic:
Legal Studies Prompt:
What compelled you to become a lawyer? Are there any special areas of law that you want to target, and what goals do you want to accomplish as an attorney?
General Scholarship Prompt:
What degree are you pursuing and why? How will you use your degree/education to serve your community?

You must be an active member of Phi Kappa Phi or have accepted membership by June 30 of the year in which you are applying.
You must also have applied to enroll as a full-time student in a graduate/professional school program to begin May 1, 2023 and February 1, 2024.
You have not/will not have completed more than 9 hours of semester credits of graduate study in any field at application deadline.
Not be a sitting Phi Kappa Phi board member, divisional vice president, member of the Fellowship Award committee or Society employee at the time of application or announcement.

Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they:
currently live within that state and have done so for at least 3 months prior to the application date; OR
have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline
Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education. This includes community college, four-year public or private college or university, certificate programs, vocational/technical/trade programs, law school, medical/dental/veterinary school, or graduate education.
Show leadership potential either within the LGBTQ community or within their field of study
Lack a broader LGBTQ community support system
Face additional barriers to educational access, including students who are economically, racially, socially, geographically, or politically disenfranchised
Demonstrate significant financial need
