Bernie Minsk Scholarship

Eligibility

The Bernie Minsk Scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors who currently work with Rainier Scholars. Priority will be given to seniors who attend Garfield High School in Seattle, WA. All students should demonstrate financial need and a strong interest and commitment to mentoring students in the future.

This scholarship is renewable for up to 3 years after the first year of college, provided the student continues to work towards maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA each year, submits an academic letter written by the student, and demonstrates satisfactory advancement towards degree.

To apply for the Bernie Minsk Scholarship, please register and create a SurveyMonkey Apply individual applicant account. To do so, please click on the green “Register” button on the top right of the screen, not the “Apply” button. You will be directed to a new page where you will select “Register as an individual” and prompted to enter your personal information. Upon creation of your applicant account you will click on “View programs” and search for the Bernie Minsk Scholarship, using the search bar.

Please note that all application materials will be submitted online including the following items:

  • The Bernie Minsk Scholarship Application Form.
  • Essay section, composed of 5 short answer questions.
  • Two letters of recommendation. These letters should be from people who know you through your academic or employment experience or your community leadership and participation. (Do not include relatives as references.)
  • Please upload a copy of your transcript(s) for every applicable level of education and/or all schools you attended from high school through present. An unofficial transcript is acceptable for application.
  • Additional supplementary materials that the applicant wishes to include for review by the scholarship committee, such as a resume.
