Sidney S. McIntyre, Sr. Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility

  • To qualify for this scholarship, a student must have graduated from a Skagit County high school, preferably Sedro-Woolley, demonstrated the need for financial assistance, show promise of success in his or her chosen field and have good scholarship.
  • The student must attend a public institution of higher education in the state of Washington.
  • The applicant’s goals must be to obtain a bachelor’s degree and pursue a secure career. This scholarship is renewable for a maximum of 4 years (12 quarters or 8 semesters, whichever is applicable to the institution where the student is enrolled).
  • The recipient must provide renewal paperwork each year to ensure their course of study fulfills the requirements and intent of the scholarship. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 grade point average with full-time student status. Each spring, The Seattle Foundation will e-mail a renewal notice and Student Information Form. The student must submit his or her official transcript, a statement of academic progress, his or her plans for the coming academic year and an updated Student Information Form by July 15, annually.

To apply for the Sidney S. McIntyre, Sr. Memorial Scholarship please register and create a SurveyMonkey Apply individual applicant account. To do so, please click on the green “Register” button on the top right of the screen, not the “Apply” button. You will be directed to a new page where you will select “Register as an individual” and prompted to enter your personal information. Upon creation of your applicant account you will click on “View programs” and search for the Sidney S. McIntyre, Sr. Memorial Scholarship using the search bar.

Please note that all application materials will be submitted online including the following items:

  • One essay.
    • Write an essay (approximately 500 words) sharing about a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
  • A brief statement (approximately 150 words).
    • Explaining what field of study you plan to pursue and why you have chosen this field.
  • Two letters of recommendation.
    • A teacher, counselor or school administrator should write one reference.
    • Someone who knows you well through your community projects or employment in recent years should write the second reference.
  • Unofficial Transcript.
    • Upload a high school transcript including the 1st semester of your senior year, along with a list of your class schedule for second semester of your senior year.
  • First page of tax form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ.
    • Attach a copy of the first page of form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ (whichever apply) from your parent(s) you are living with or the parent(s) who are helping with school costs; and your most recent tax return (if one was filed). We count on your honesty.
  • Optional SAT / ACT test score upload.

*Last-in award is intended to fill the gaps between financial aid and attendance costs.
