Open to all high school, college, and graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university for the Fall 2023 semester.
You must be at least sixteen (16) years of age or older at the time of application and have a valid United States Social Security Number. For entrants under the age of majority where you reside, you must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate.

Applications that are incomplete or inaccurate will be subject to disqualification.
One (1) scholarship application is allowed per person per email address. “Winners” will be chosen during the scholarship application period. Entries are only valid for the application period during which they are submitted.
Application essays will be judged based on content, grammar, style, and originality, with each criterion having equal weight.
Eight (8) scholarship prizes will be awarded in the amount of $3,000 each (each, a “Scholarship” or “Prize”).
You have a demonstrated record of community or volunteer service.
You are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited U.S. college or university for the 2023 academic year.
High school graduates may apply if you are enrolled in college for the semester immediately following the application deadline.

Essay Prompt
Describe a challenge or trying time in your life through which you persevered, and how the experience helped shape your future.
1) Be between the ages of 17 and 24 on September 1st, 2023
2) Submit answer to the essay question, which can be found on the application page, prior to the May 1st, 2023 deadline.
3) Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.
4) Be a resident of the United States or Canada

he essay must contain two essential elements:
1. The essay must provide a thesis statement (in the introductory paragraph). It must be clear and coherent, and it must answer the question that has been put forth on the application.
2. The essay must follow basic rules of format and grammar. Every paper must contain a beginning (introductory paragraph), a middle (several supporting paragraphs that comprise the body of the paper), and an end (concluding paragraph). Video (Optional): A short video, less than 2 minutes, about your need and how can this scholarship help you get ahead.

The Scott and Kim Verplank Foundation provides annually, renewable college scholarships to students beginning their undergraduate studies of up to $10,000 to be used toward tuition, student fees, and books. Scholarships are renewable for up to a maximum of four years for any one recipient based on completing the renewal requirements.
