To be considered for one of our Fall 2023 Gold Law Scholarship awards, students must submit an essay (appr. 500 words) that includes the following:
A thoughtful response to the following question:
How has participation in activities such as scouts, acting, debate, and/or speech helped you get through difficult periods of your life, build leadership skills, or prepared you for success in the future?
Each essay should contain at least one embedded image to assist in the applicant’s message. The Gold Law Firm believes in the power of imagery for communication. What Are the Application Requirements?
To be considered for the Magaña & Van Dyke Dominick Marsala Memorial Scholarship, students must submit a video of 3 minutes or less answering the following prompt: Making time for hobbies can greatly benefit a person and ensure that they are focused on what is important to them. What would you consider to be your lifelong hobby?
How have you maintained this hobby throughout your life, and how do you plan to continue to make time for it while also pursuing a higher education, working, and/or focusing on other priorities? How has this hobby helped you to excel in other areas of your life?
Additionally, applications must include the student’s contact information, proof of enrollment, and proof of GPA.
Applicants must currently attend an accredited college or university in the United States.
Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be majoring in engineering or biomedical engineering.

Submissions will be in the form of a 1,000-word essay chosen from one of the following topics:
What role, if any, do you believe AI will play in the development and engineering of medical devices moving into the future?
What kinds of medical devices do you believe will be the most important to develop in the next 20 years and why?
Do you believe there are any steps that should be added or streamlined to current regulations surrounding medical device approval? If so, what would they be and why?
If you could work on developing any type of medical device, what would it be and why? How will your education contribute to the success of these projects?
As technology continues to rapidly evolve, what do you see as the next big innovation coming to medical devices? Why?
DeviceLab staff will screen and select applications for the final winner.
Essays will be assessed based on content for: contribution, originality, creativity, and overall writing quality.

The Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest requires students to raise awareness about different legal issues. Applicants must create a public service advertisement video (PSA) about this prompt: What should motorists do while driving if they see a law enforcement vehicle that is stopped on the side of the road?
