Abbott and Fenner Business Scholarship

  • This scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors, as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.

How to Apply

  • To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the topic below. The essay should be between 500 and 1000 words. Your submissions must be sent to us by email at: scholarships@abbottandfenner.com
    • Describe your educational career and life goals. Explain your plan for achieving these goals. Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.

AES Engineering Solutions Scholarship

Eligibility

  • High school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.
  • Not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

  • Students must submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words to answer the following question:
    • When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?
  • Be sure to include your full name, name of school you are attending this year, and your plans for next year.
  • No application packet for this award required
  • No resume submission required

Paul and Daisy Soros Foundation Fellowship for New Americans

Eligibility

  • To be eligible, an applicant’s birth parents must have both been born outside of the US as non-US citizens, and both parents must not have been eligible for US citizenship at the time of their birth.
  • One of the following must be true of the applicant as of the November 1, 2018 deadline:
    • Born in the US
    • Naturalized Citizen
    • Green Card
    • Adopted
    • DACA
  • Should be planning to be enrolled full time in an eligible graduate degree program at a US university for the full 2019-20 academic year. Eligible applicants must not have begun the third year of the program that they are seeking funding for as of the October 27, 2022 deadline. Applicants who have a previous graduate degree or who are in a joint-degree program are eligible.
  • Must not have reached or passed your 31st birthday as of the application deadline.

How to Apply

  • Complete the online application.
  • Submit 2 essays (maximum length of 1,000 words per essay):
    • Essay 1: Tell us about your experiences as a New American. Whether as an immigrant yourself, or as a child of immigrants, how have your experiences as a New American informed and shaped who you are and your accomplishments? Feel free to discuss how individual people (such as family or teachers), institutions, aspects of law, culture, society, or American governance made an impact on your life as an immigrant or child of immigrants. The program is interested in understanding the context of your personal, professional, and academic accomplishments.
    • Essay 2: Tell us about your current and near-term career-related activities and goals, as well as why you decided to pursue the specific graduate program(s) and school(s) that you have. How do you see your current work and study informing your early career goals? If you have not been accepted into a program yet, please tell us about why you selected the programs to which you are applying.

Phi Kappa Phi Fellowships

Eligibility

  • You must be an active member of Phi Kappa Phi or have accepted membership by June 30 of the year in which you are applying.
  • You must also have applied to enroll as a full-time student in a graduate/professional school program to begin May 1, 2023 and February 1, 2024.
  • You have not/will not have completed more than 9 hours of semester credits of graduate study in any field at application deadline.
  • Not be a sitting Phi Kappa Phi board member, divisional vice president, member of the Fellowship Award committee or Society employee at the time of application or announcement.

Pride Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants are considered a resident of one of these states if they:
    • currently live within that state and have done so for at least 3 months prior to the application date; OR
    • have lived within that state for at least one year at any time within the five years prior to the application deadline
  • Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education. This includes community college, four-year public or private college or university, certificate programs, vocational/technical/trade programs, law school, medical/dental/veterinary school, or graduate education.
  • Show leadership potential either within the LGBTQ community or within their field of study
  • Lack a broader LGBTQ community support system
  • Face additional barriers to educational access, including students who are economically, racially, socially, geographically, or politically disenfranchised
  • Demonstrate significant financial need

Society of Exploration Geophysics Foundation

Eligibility

  • Must be a high school senior planning to attend college next year or an undergraduate or graduate college student
  • Must have above average grades
  • Must be intending to pursue a college curriculum directed toward a career in applied geophysics

The Byron Hanke Fellowship

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be enrolled, at time of application and through the research period, in a graduate level program (masters, doctoral, legal) at an accredited higher education institution in the United States or Canada.
  • Students from any relevant discipline may apply for the Hanke Fellowship, provided their research project relates to community associations and/or common interest communities.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Antibody Scholarship Program

Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years of age or older as of Aug. 9, 2023 and enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university for the fall 2019 semester.
  • Must have declared major of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related life science field
  • Graduate students must have a cumulative graduate GPA of minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and have received a cumulative undergraduate GPA of minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Undergraduate Sophomore, Juniors, and Seniors must have a cumulative college GPA of minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Undergraduate Freshmen must have a cumulative high school GPA of minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
